WINDING

For All Wind-upClocks:

Wind steadily, stopping after each turn until winding is tight. Do not force.

For Floor (Grandfather) Clocks:

If clock is running slow, turn knob at bottom of pendulum to the right one quarter turn for each minute slow PER 24 HOURS. Make sure to reset minute hand on clock face to correct time and watch for another 24 hours. Adjust as needed each 24 hours.

If clock is running fast, turn knob at bottom of pendulum to the left one quarter turn for each minute PER 24 HOURS. Make sure to resent minute hand on clock face to correct time and watch for another 24 hours. Adjust as needed each 24 hours.

LEVELING

Always make sure your grandfather clock is level on the floor both from side to side and back to front.

OILING

Mechanical (wind-up) clocks need oiling every three years.

CLEANING

Mechanical clocks may need cleaning (internal mechanism) if they stop and cannot be restarted by pushing the pendulum or if time regulation is not possible by turning the knob on the pendulum. We disassemble and ultrasonically clean the mechanisms, check for wear, and oil the mechanism before reinstalling in the clock case.

OVERHAULING

Overhauling consists of taking the mechanism apart and ultrasonically CLEANING it AND REPLACING any worn bushings or other parts.
